Chile is beautiful in winter, with the snow-capped Andes providing a majestic backdrop to the city and wineries.
The grapes are harvested, the vines are sleeping and this year’s wine is resting in the cellars … but there are still plenty of beautiful vineyards to visit and great wines to taste.
Our winter wine tours are designed for you to enjoy Chile’s wine country and be back by dark. Join us for a day of winter winery fun in the countryside as we explore Chile’s famous Maipo Valley.
First winery …
Our first visit is to an organic and biodynamic vineyard, just an hour away from Santiago. Explore the gravity-flow design of the winery and the underground cellar. Then, enjoy three of their premium wines with a panoramic view of the vineyards.
Second winery …
Next, you will visit a winery established in the 1930’s, one of the first to make and bottle Carmenere after it’s rediscovery in Chile. They will tell you about their natural practices as you visit the winery, the vineyards and the cellars. You will see some of their unique winemaking techniques, supporting their quest to reflect the grape and its origin in the purest possible form. In their beautiful tasting rooms, you will taste 3 wines from across their different lines.
When in Chile, eat like a Chilean! Now that you’ve worked up a hunger, your next stop is for an authentic and delicious Chilean lunch. You’ll start with a famous Chilean empanada, and enjoy a typical main dish with a glass of local wine, finishing with a sweet bite.
We will then head back to Santiago after a great day of Chilean wine.
Price is for a full day out with your English speaking guide, transport to and from your Santiago base and all tours and lunch as described.
